Premier League is our competitive recreational League at Athens Community Soccer. The League provides a qualified referee for each game. All games are played with FIFA approved equipment and the current FIFA Laws of the Game apply with some amendments (no slide tackling).
 

Premier League is a competitive play-at-your-own-risk recreational League for Adult players aged 18+. Players are expected to behave in a friendly, professional and non-aggressive manner. Players are expected to respect each other, league officials and to play in a manner which keeps the game competitive but fun for everyone.

The format for Premier League:

  • Official FIFA Rules
  • 50 minute games (25 per half)
  • 3 minute half-time
  • 7v7 (8v8 when possible)
  • Co-Ed
  • Offsides
  • No Slide Tackling
  • Shin Guards Required
  • Unlimited Substitutions (on dead ball throw-ins only)
  • Open to ACS members and non-members (membership is NOT required)
  • Players play at their own risk - No insurance coverage in the Premier League
  • 3 points (win), 1 point (draw), 0 points (loss)
  • All scores must be reported by team captains and referee to the league within 24 hours
  • Any score not reported to the league within 24 hours (either via text or email or facebook messenger) will be recorded as a 0-0 draw
  • Minimum of 4 players required to avoid forfeit
  • Non-rostered players CANNOT be picked up
  • Forfeited games are recorded as a 3-0 loss
  • If neither team shows, the game will be rescheduled or abandoned at the league's choice
  • Team captain must pay the team fee
  • Maximum of 15 players can be rostered
  • Players can only be rostered to ONE premier league team (players can be rostered on other League 2 teams)
 
Prohibitive Behavior Includes but is not limited to:

  • Slide Tackling
  • Dangerous Play
  • Abusive Language
  • Complaining or Arguing over referee decisions
  • Unsporting Behavior
  • Retaliation
  • Attempting to play with non-regulation equipment
  • FIFA laws of the game violations

Players engaging in prohibited behavior are subject to yellow or red cards by the referee.

The league reserves the right for further disciplinary action.

Please note that the referee's decision is final, arguing with the officials over calls is
not going to get the call changed. If you have a complaint about a particular call, please
follow the following procedure:
  • Notify your team captain at half-time or at the end of the game
  • The team captain may ask the referee at the end of the game to explain the call
  • Wait 24 hours from the end of game
  • Have your team captain submit your complaint in writing to - athenscommunitysoccer@gmail.com
Anyone caught arguing with the officials during or after the game will be subject to the following:
  • Verbal warning from the referee on the first infraction
  • Yellow card from the referee on the second infraction (dissent)
  • Final verbal warning from the referee for any infractions following a yellow card
  • Second Yellow Card and subsequent Red card on the fourth infraction
